This 22-square-metre flat in a building constructed in 1898, with ceilings soaring to 4.2 m, presented a unique opportunity: by exploiting the height, we designed a mezzanine sleeping zone to free the lower level for living and storage.
A striking detail: at the client’s explicit request, the stair railing was omitted — a bold decision, diverging from standard safety norms, which emphasises the clean, uninterrupted flow of space.
Every centimetre was considered. Custom storage, compact furniture, and a restrained palette keep the interior light, spacious and functional — proof that even micro-spaces in historic buildings can be both elegant and utterly liveable.
